The Story

Once upon a time, someone with a ridiculous number of allergies and sensitivities would struggle to find natural products they could use. Lip balms, soaps, lotions—all regularly contained things that would give them a rash, make them itch, or sometimes even make their skin peel off.

They realized it was possible to make such things, dabbled enough to know they enjoyed it, and progressed through life…

After a series of medical frustrations like temporarily losing the ability to walk, the effort to find daily products like lip balm was even more annoying. They therefore started mulling on how to make such products in the most allergen-friendly way.

And the premise of Simply Scentless, LLC was born: simple hypoallergenic products with no added fragrances.

They researched different oils and waxes. They dug into other lip balm producers to see what others were offering and how. They planned the products they wanted to target, then evaluated prices on relevant ingredients to plan the best item to launch with.

Here we are: pure sunflower lip balm, with two options for the texture.

The Product

Lip balm recipes are faster to develop and test than other products, like soaps. It’s also a growing industry where very little is available for those of us with a ridiculous number of allergies and sensitivities.

Sunflower is inexpensive and readily available in the USA, even if tariffs muck with shipping prices. It’s uncommon to be allergic to it, it’s soothing on the skin, and it has minimal inherent flavor and fragrance.

Sunflower lip balm has therefore been chosen as the front running product. This lip balm is all-natural and allergy friendly (unless you’re allergic to sunflowers or sunflower seeds). The odor and wax aren’t deodorized, so you might detect the faint smell of sunflower, but there’s no fragrance added.

Conventionally, soft lip balm is better for winter and hard lip balm is better for summer, due to factors like melting points. Since different people prefer different textures, we offer both year-round!

And we don’t plan to stop here. Products in the pipeline include:

Now, something being in the pipeline doesn’t necessarily mean it will make it through the pipeline. The recipes have to be viably beneficial for you, or we won’t release them.
